Most of the hospitality world is centered around alcohol but this week’s guest, industry pioneer

He believes by consciously consuming together we can not only open our hearts and create deeper connections but elevate collective consciousness. I was excited to bring him on Higher Spirits to discuss his personal journey in the industry and potential of this plant.TL;DR EP 06 Philip Wolf

🤝 Understanding the history of the plant to decolonize the mind
Who is Philip Wolf?
Philip Wolf is a pioneer in the cannabis space—blending plant medicine, ritual, and conscious consumption in ways that elevate the conversation around this plant. He’s the founder of Cultivating Spirits, one of the first companies in the U.S. to offer legal cannabis dining experiences, and CashoM, a platform dedicated to cannabis education and spiritual exploration. As a member of the Rolling Stone Culture Council, Philip has been a vocal advocate for mindful cannabis use, emphasizing its role in expanding consciousness and fostering a deeper connection to self and community.
Rethinking Hospitality: The Shift Away from Alcohol
For decades, alcohol has been the default in social settings, but that’s starting to change—especially among younger generations.
Philip has spent years navigating the hospitality industry, where alcohol is the dominant substance, and he’s noticed a shift. When he shares statistics about Gen Z drinking less than any generation before, people in the industry start to open up to alternative options, including cannabis.
This growing trend is undeniable, and I’ll be diving deeper into it in next week’s newsletter—stay tuned!
Sun-Grown Cannabis Has a Higher Frequency
I first connected with Philip through the sun-grown community and the 420ppm event I produced with Sun and Earth in 2022. So, naturally, one of the first things we explored was his passion for sun-grown cannabis.
If you’ve been listening to Higher Spirits, you know this is something I care about deeply. If not, I highly suggest listening to my episode with Tina Gordon of Moon Made Farms—who Philip also shouts out in this episode.
Cannabis grown under the sun, in living soil, absorbs the full spectrum of the Earth’s life force. This isn’t just about sustainability—it’s about resonance. Philip and I talked about how the energy of a plant reflects the environment it comes from, and why choosing cannabis grown in alignment with nature enhances not just the experience, but the medicine itself.
(P.S. I break down the science behind this in my Ep 01 Substack post if you're curious!)
For Philip, this connection to the land is crucial—not just for cultivation but for spiritual growth.
🌱 Without that connection, the spiritual journey can easily become ego-driven, focused on personal enlightenment rather than collective healing.
🌱 Regenerative farming isn’t just about healthier plants; it’s about fostering a mindset of interdependence—between ourselves, the land, and the wisdom that cannabis carries.
Cannabis as a Master Plant
One of the most eye-opening parts of our conversation was about decolonizing the mind when it comes to cannabis.
🔍 Whether or not you realize it, you (and me!) have a colonized mind.
🔍 We come from a culture of colonization and capital gain at all costs, and in that, we’ve also colonized cannabis.
Philip emphasized the importance of honoring the plant’s history—where it came from, how it got here, and the people who sacrificed their freedom along the way. This is part of decolonizing our relationship with the plant.
This plant is a sacred teacher in many traditions. Yet, much of the modern cannabis industry has erased or commodified this wisdom.
In many traditions, cannabis has long been recognized as a master plant—a powerful teacher that expands awareness and guides us toward deeper self-exploration. As Philip shared his journey from cannabis cultivator to guide, he highlighted how this plant has the potential to shift consciousness—not just individually, but collectively.
This really resonated with me. When I first started teaching cannabis yoga, I saw firsthand how this plant could be a catalyst for:
✨ Healing
✨ Connection
✨ Transformation
It’s not just about getting high—it’s about getting clear.
Final Thought: The Next Time You Light Up…
Take a moment to acknowledge the lineage of the plant in your hands—
💚 The wisdom it carries
💚 The soil it came from
💚 The energy it’s bringing into your life
